Himalayan blue poppy, Meconopsis grandis

Herbaceous perennial plant, 90 cm high and up to 10 buds each.

Flowers up to 10 cm in diameter, sky blue in color with bright yellow stamens.

At temperatures above 35C, the buds begin to dry out without opening. Each flower lasts 5-7 days, and overall flowering lasts about 3 weeks.

By early August, the seeds ripen.

The planting area should be shady, preferably under the canopy of tall trees.

Prefers light, fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It is advisable to prepare a peaty one, as for rhododendrons or hydrangeas.
