A long-term culture of the Bell family. Sapphire is a variety of lobelia, with branching shoots descending downwards, 30 cm long. It grows in the form of a low, rounded, compact bush.

Inflorescences-panicles of lobelia Sapphire differ in a small number of buds. The flowers are bell-shaped, located on the tops of the shoots, equipped with a short pedicel. There are also single ones placed in the leaf axils.

The flower of lobelia Sapphire reaches 2 cm in diameter, self-pollinated, the petals are fused, form two parts. The upper one consists of two small narrow petals, the lower one consists of three pieces that seem larger, rounded. The color of the flowers of lobelia Sapphire depends on the sufficiency of illumination. The petals can be blue or light blue.

The Sapphire blooms twice a season: from June to July, then a two-week break, the second wave lasts until October. The seed pods ripen at the end of August.
