Purple hazel is a beautiful, tall shrub that, thanks to the original color of its foliage, is decorative throughout the growing season.

Bushes, 4-6 m high, spreading, obovate, with an umbrella crown, easily amenable to molding pruning. Multiple shoots are straight, strong, weakly branched, lignified. The leaves are rounded with a sharp edge. The plate is smooth, sawn, with pronounced venation. Color red-purple with a metallic sheen. In 5-6 years, from the second half of spring, flowering begins, male, yellow catkins flowers come out, 6 cm long. By the end of summer, the fruits ripen. Cylindrical nuts are completely covered with red Pluska. After very frosty winters, fruiting may not be observed.

The plant is not whimsical, resistant to air pollution, tolerates transplanting well, but for rapid development, you need to follow agricultural techniques.

Plant seedlings in early to mid-spring or in November, choosing slightly shaded areas. The distance between the bushes should be 2-4 m. The size of the landing pit is 70x70x70 cm. Prepare a mixture of soil, humus and sand, add mineral fertilizers. The roots of the seedling are soaked in a clay chatterbox. The seedling is inserted into the pit, the roots should not bend or break. The pit is covered with a soil mixture, rammed, abundantly watered, and the root circle is mulched. After planting, the branches should be shortened by 15-20 cm, preferably covered from direct sunlight.

Young plants are regularly watered, adults should only be watered during dry summers. After watering, the ground is loosened.

Feed in early spring, urea solution, as well as in autumn with phosphorous fertilizers.

Sanitary and molding pruning is performed in early March.

In landscape design, they are used as contrasting spots in groups, planted singly, in rows when splitting alleys, for the design of parks.
