Crenate chestnut (Japanese)

Tree up to 15 m high and up to 1.5 m in diameter. It grows quickly and bears fruit in 2-4 years.

The leaves are long, 8-16 cm long and 3-3.5 cm wide, on petioles 10-12 mm, often growing as a shrub. They are smooth and shiny on top and felty on the bottom.

The fruits reach 6 cm in diameter and up to 80 g in weight. Nuts can be eaten raw or cooked.

Wood is used as decoration. Plant it independently or in small groups.

Prefers moist soil and air.
