Red willow, willow (Salix acutifolia).

A shrub up to 6 m high, or a tree 10-12 m. The branches are thin, long, twig-shaped, flexible, red-brown, rarely bright red with a bluish bloom or egg-yellow without plaque.

The buds are glabrous, black-brown or reddish, pressed, elongated, up to 6 mm long. Stipules are lanceolate, sharp, pilate.

The leaves are lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, less often linear, 6-15 cm long, 0.7-1.2 cm wide, long-pointed, wedge-shaped at the base, glandular-pilate, dark green above, shiny, glaucous or bluish-green below. Petioles are yellow-red, about 1 cm long, without glands.

The earrings are sessile or almost sessile, 2.5-3.5 cm long, ovoid or cylindrical. Stamens are among two, with bare filaments and yellow anthers; one nectary, posterior, ribbon-shaped. Ovary ovate-conical, on a short leg or almost sessile, naked. The column is long; the stigma is oblong with divergent lobes.

Blooms before the appearance of leaves, in March - April. Fruiting in April - June.

Due to its long and strong roots, it grows well on sand, easily tolerates blowing sand and therefore can be used to fix them.
