An evergreen tree up to 5-6 m tall, often growing bush-like, with a cylindrical openwork crown and erect, little branching lateral shoots. The bark of the shoots is light brown-purple, later gray-brown, longitudinally furrowed. The root system is shallow.
The buds are 1 cm long, sharp, flattened from the sides, with grassy greenish-brown or reddish scales having parallel veins. The leaves are crowded in the upper part of the branches, complex, triple-pinnate, triangular in general outline, 30-40 cm long; the leaves are dense, shiny, rhombic, lanceolate, with a pointed tip and a wedge-shaped base, up to 10 cm long and 2.5 cm wide, dark green, in autumn they turn red-brown and red, which they last until spring, turn brown by spring and turn green again at the beginning of spring growth.
The inflorescence is an apical panicle 20-40 cm long . Flowers are 6 mm in diameter, with spirally arranged three yellowish-white sepals turning into white petals; nectaries 3 or 6.
Blooms in June - July. It bears fruit in September - October. The berries are bright red, rarely white, 8 mm in diameter, with a pointed tip.
