Tomentose cotoneaster shrub up to 1.5 m tall. The crown is spreading, the shoots are whitish-pubescent. Leaves are up to 6 cm long, elliptic or broadly ovate, dull green above and white tomentose below.
The flowers are pinkish, in small drooping corymbs. The fruits are spherical, bright red, 3–5 seeds. Annual growth occasionally freezes, is highly drought-resistant, is not damaged by pests and diseases, blooms annually in early June, bears fruit in August - September.
It is light-loving and demanding of growing conditions: it needs rich, sufficiently moist soils.
The tomentose cotoneaster is very decorative with light-pubescent shoots, leaves and bright fruits. Decorative durability 20–30 years.
Recommended for contrasting plantings in park groups, in places protected from cold winds.
