Izmir is an oriental tobacco with a mild taste and unique aroma. A low nicotine content, an exceptionally high percentage of sugars and a strong, sweet-spicy aroma gives this product a special piquancy.

This variety has small leaves with thin veins, which are perfectly amenable to mechanical processing. Their color varies from rich yellow to light yellow. The highest quality leaves often have dark brown scorch marks and a light coffee aroma.

The peculiarity of Izmir tobacco is that it cannot be fermented. Here, only a stay of at least eight months is allowed, during which the leaves acquire darker colors.
