Squat shrub, up to 3M high, partially creeping on the ground. The bushes grow at the expense of the offspring, which often outperform the parent shoots. The bushes grow up to 4 — 5 m in diameter. Quince has a long growing season — from April to frost. To increase the resistance to negative temperatures and better fruit ripening, do not give a lot of nitrogen and organic fertilizers. Phosphoric, potash and micro-fertilizers should be applied systematically according to the norm established for gardens. Although Japanese quince is quite frost-resistant even in the South of Siberia, it is recommended to cover it with snow. This is more reliable, because autumn does not always help prepare plants for winter. Japanese quince is grown from seeds. At the time of fruiting, it enters quite early. Stratify the seeds by mixing them with pre-scalded freshly sawn coniferous sawdust. Sow when the soil has just begun to thaw, and the snow has not yet completely descended. Without stratification, germination is poor. Quince fruits are suitable for food and have a sweet and sour taste.
