Plant of the genus Honeysuckle of the Honeysuckle family. Deciduous shrub up to 2 meters high. The leaves are obovate, dense, dark green, shiny, up to 10 cm long, on 1.5 cm petioles.

The flowers are odorless, light yellow with a reddish tint, up to 1.5 cm long, on long (2-4.5 cm) peduncles. Alpine honeysuckle blooms in May-June.

The fruits are fused in pairs, scarlet in color, shiny, on long stalks, and resemble cherries in appearance. Inedible. Ripen in August-September.

Alpine honeysuckle grows slowly - at 15 years of age, the height of the bush reaches only 0.7 meters. Winter-hardy and shade-tolerant, tolerates shearing well. Prefers light sandy loam soils. Grown as an ornamental plant.
