Garden honeysuckle (Lonicera edulis).

Deciduous shrub up to 1 m tall. Young shoots are thin, pubescent, green, in places with a purple tint.

Old ones at the base reach a thickness of 3 cm, the bark on them is yellowish-brown, without pubescence, peeling off in narrow strips. The crown is dense, spherical.

The leaves are oblong-lanceolate with pointed apices, up to 7 cm long, with disc-shaped stipules fused with short petioles. Young leaves are densely pubescent; older leaves have sparse or absent pubescence.

The flowers are yellowish, funnel-shaped, located in pairs in the axils of the leaves. Flowering time May - early June.

The fruits are dark blue with a bluish waxy coating, 9-12 mm long, varied in shape: cylindrical, oblong-elliptical, sometimes round. Ripen at the end of June-July. The pulp is juicy, red-violet.

Tolerates sandy and dry soils, although it grows best on slightly acidic, moderately moist, sandy loam substrates, in sunny or semi-shaded places.

USDA Hardiness Zone: 4 (-34°C to -29°C).
