Apple tree Welsey, Winter apple variety, Malus domestica, Apple Welsey seeds, Apple tree (lat. Malus)

High-yielding, early-fruiting variety. The apple tree is large, the branches are slightly drooping, brown in color, with slight pubescence. Its height is 5-5.5 m. The variety is considered average in winter hardiness. It tolerates frosts down to -25 degrees, but no more.

The branches grow upward, their tips are pubescent, completely covered with small dark green leathery leaves. Flowering is white and pink, the inflorescences are small, usually open in May.

The apples are medium-sized, weighing up to 120 g. They are shaped like turnips. The skin is thin but dense, the main color is green, but with time of storage it becomes golden. The surface is almost completely covered with thin, blurry pink-red stripes. The taste of the fruit is sweet and sour, there is a subtle strawberry aroma.

Fruiting begins three to four years after planting. From one tree you can collect about 200 kg of tasty medium-sized apples.

The soils most suitable for this apple tree are sandy loam and loam.

USDA Hardiness Zone: 5 (-29°C to -23°C).
