Lonicera caerulea var. kamtschatica fresh seeds, Blue honeysuckle, Sweetberry honeysuckle, Honeyberry seeds, Fruit tree seeds (lat. Lonicera caerulea var. kamtschatica).

A shrub belonging to the Honeysuckle family (Caprifoliaceae). Grows up to 2 m in height, compact and erect habit. Long-lived plant. The bark is gray, flaking longitudinally. The leaves are oblong, 3-7 cm long, rounded at the base, and obtuse or briefly pointed at the apex. Initially on both sides, and later only pubescent at the bottom. Stipules of opposite leaves are sometimes fused in pairs.

The flowers are pale yellow in pairs with subulate-shaped bracts fused at the base. The tubular involucre, consisting of fused pre-flower stalks, does not fall off, but grows together with the fruits of two flowers, forming a juicy black-blue infructescence. Calyx with short teeth. The stamens are attached to the corolla tube and usually protrude slightly from it. The corolla is yellowish, with two poorly defined lips and a long tubular-funnel-shaped part.

It blooms when the leaves begin to unfold in May. Fruits from June to July. The fruit is ellipsoidal and consists of two dark blue, juicy berries. Mature fruits are elongated-elliptical or cylindrical, about 1 cm long.

Recommended for single plantings, groups, hedges and gardens.

Tolerates sandy and dry soils, although it grows best on slightly acidic, moderately moist, sandy loam substrates, in sunny or semi-shaded places.

USDA Hardiness Zone: 3 (-40°C to -34°C).
