Ashinskaya is a hybrid of garden cherry and steppe cherry (bush). Ashinskaya cherry trees are fast-growing, and quite quickly reach maximum growth, which can range from 2.5 to 3 meters.

The crown of the tree is very thick, elongated and needs regular thinning. The smooth dark green leaves are oval in shape and slightly curved upwards. The shoots are brown with an ashy tinge.

Ashinskaya cherry blossoms in May. Fragrant small flowers are collected in inflorescences of five or six pieces. Flowering, and hence fruiting, mainly occurs on annual growth, but this partially occurs on the bouquet twigs of two-year-old or three-year-old branches.

Fruiting does not occur earlier than four years after planting the tree, but it lasts for a very long time — from 30 to 35 years. A very important detail is that Ashinskaya cherry is a self-fertile variety and does not need pollinating companions. That is, even if it is the only cherry on your site, you will still harvest.

Burgundy-red rounded-flattened cherry berries of the Ashinskaya variety weighing from 4 to 5 grams have a juicy dark red pulp and a sweet and sour taste. The dense skin of the berries is not prone to cracking.

Ashinskaya cherry is a consistently productive variety. Every year you will be able to collect at least 8 kg of berries from the tree, and with good care and favorable weather, this figure can increase to 10-12 kilograms.

Ashinskaya cherry is a hybrid of garden and steppe cherry, inherited from her "parents" she got a high drought resistance characteristic of steppe cherries. Good frost resistance and the ability to regenerate. Even with frosts below -40 degrees, the tree is able to recover without consequences for yield.
