Broad-leaved Willowherb, Chamaenerion, Epilobium (lat. Epilobium montanum)

A perennial herbaceous plant with a simple or branched erect stem 20-60 (100) cm tall, rounded in cross-section, covered with sickle-shaped hairs over the entire surface. In autumn, small shoots with rosettes of leaves appear at the base of the stem. The leaves are 3-10 cm long and 1.5-5 cm wide, opposite, on petioles up to 2 mm long, ovate or broadly lanceolate, with a rounded or heart-shaped base, unequally saw-toothed along the edge. The plate is naked from above, there is some short pubescence along the edge and along the veins from below.
The flowers are in the axils of the upper leaves. The buds are ovate, short-pointed, covered with short pubescence. The calyx is bell-shaped, at the base with a short protruding glandular and simple pubescence, with lanceolate sepals 5-6×1-1. 5 mm, the tube is about 2 mm long. Corolla with four pink petals 7-10 mm long, oblong-obovate, deeply bi-lobed at the tip. The stigma of the pistil is pronounced four-lobed, the blades are divergent, oblong-linear. The ovary along the ribs is covered with a simple crescent-shaped, and along the edges — glandular, raised above a shorter simple pubescence.
The fruit is a pod-shaped capsule 5-7 cm long, densely covered with simple and glandular hairs. The seeds are about 1 mm, narrowly lanceolate, covered with oblong papillae, gray or brown in color.
