A perennial herbaceous plant. The stem is erect, 10-60 cm high, furrowed, glabrous; branched in the upper part.
The leaves are lanceolate, sharp, wedge-shaped narrowed to the base. The upper ones are sessile, the lower ones are short—stemmed. The flowers are bisexual, small. Blooms in June — July.
Inflorescence — branched; at the bottom of the spaced, at the top — of the converging whorls. The fruits are nuts of a reddish-brown color. Ripen in July — August.
