Yarrow is a herbaceous plant in the Asteraceae family. It can be found everywhere on the territory of Central Asia, the Far East and the European part of Russia. Ordinary field varieties attract little attention, except for soft, incised leaves. You can find such thickets in the forest-steppe zone, along roads, on stony and sandy hills. Until now, not everyone knows that yarrow has decorative garden varieties with large multi-colored inflorescences. They are most often cultivated in flower beds. Also, the plant is used as a medicinal product, which is very easy to care for.
Yarrow (Achillea) is a perennial herb with a powerful, well – developed rhizome. It consists of several branched rods and simultaneously develops in the vertical and horizontal planes. The stems are slightly branched from the base. They gradually travelabout closer to the root of the neck. The height of the shoots is 15-50 cm (sometimes up to 1 m). Most often, the shoots grow vertically, only sometimes they are curved.

The foliage on yarrow grows thickly, it is located in turn. Petiolate leaves have pinnately dissected and curved plates, colored bright green or gray-green. The edges of the small lobes are serrated.

In mid-summer, the top of the stem lengthens. It blooms corymbose inflorescence, consisting of many small baskets. Each basket has a lush yellow-gray core of tubular bisexual flowers and is framed by a row of white or pinkish tongue flowers. The diameter of the basket is 3-20 mm.

The flowers are pollinated by insects and wind. After that, the achenes ripen without tufts with small oblong seeds. Germination lasts up to 4 years.
