Siberian juniper (Juniperus sibirica Burgsd.).

Monoecious shrub 0.5-1 m tall with spreading and rising branches above the ground. The needles are 4-8 mm long and 1-2 mm wide, crescent-shaped, grooved on top, with a white waxy stripe in the middle.

“Cone berries” are 6-9 mm in diameter, almost spherical, black-gray, on short stalks, slightly fleshy, with two or three triangular brownish seeds.

It grows very slowly. It forms clumps on mountain slopes, near placers, grows in larch forests, among dwarf cedar, and along the edges of mires.

Cone berries are edible and can be used for processing. Eaten by many animals and birds. Can be used as decorative for slides and slopes.

It grows on soils of varying fertility, prefers moderately moist soils, can grow on rocky substrates with a small amount of fine earth, and on peat soils. Not salt tolerant. Does not tolerate transplantation well, it is imperative to preserve the earthen coma.
