Red cedar, Eastern red cedar, Virginia juniper, or Virginian (lat. Juniperus virginiana).

Trees, monoecious or less commonly dioecious, up to 30 m high, trunk diameter up to 150 cm. The needles are dark green, small (0.1-0.2 cm), evergreen.

The cone berries are small, up to 0.6 cm, ripen in the autumn of the first year (October) and remain on the trees for a long time. When planted, it is very decorative. Grows quickly.

Soils: not demanding, moderately moist, well-drained sandy and loamy soils.
