Decorative coniferous evergreen tree up to 20 m high. Fir buds are round, resinous and beautifully shiny. Each bud can be 4-6 mm long. The needles are flat (up to 3 cm long, up to 2 mm wide), dark green in color, with two whitish stripes running along it from below.
The cones are oval-cylindrical, 5–10 cm long, 2–2.5 cm thick, young dark purple, mature ones gray-brown, very resinous, ripen and crumble in October.
Suitable for creating alleys, for planting along roads in the city, as well as for group and single plantings.
It is a light-loving tree, but is considered the most tolerant of light shading among all firs. It prefers to grow in fresh, fertile soil, although it is possible that it can take root in excessively wet soil.
