Pinus thunbergii fresh seeds, Black pine, Japanese black pine, Japanese pine, Coniferous tree seeds, Organic seeds (lat. Pinus thunbergii).

Plant, a widespread species of the genus Pine of the Pine family (Pinaceae). It grows naturally in Japan and South Korea.

Tree up to 30 m high with a wide crown and trunk diameter up to 2 m. The bark is scaly, gray-black. The shoots are orange-yellow. The buds are elongated, 1.2-1.8 mm long, whitish. The needles are arranged two in a bunch, 6-11 cm long and 1.5-2 mm thick. They live on trees for up to 3 years.

The cones are ovoid, 4-6 cm long and 3-4 cm thick, brown in color. Seeds 5 mm long, with wing. Pollination occurs from April to May, the seeds ripen two years later in October.

Loves sunny places, but also tolerates light shade. It is recommended to place it on a hill so that the lower branches receive enough light. You should always choose a well-warmed place for better tree growth. The only exception is excessively wet and closed areas with poor air ventilation, especially during the rainy and frosty seasons, since such conditions are difficult for the roots. It can winter outside, but the plant must be protected from excess moisture.

Can occur in a variety of soil types, including bare mineral soil, sandy soil, volcanic ash, limestone soil, limestone soil and everything from dusty soil to red soil. Because it is drought tolerant, it will grow even in barren landscapes.

USDA Hardiness Zone: 6 (-23°C to -18°C).
