Trinidad Scorpion Moruga Yellow pepper is tall, up to 120 cm high, branched. Its leaves have a velvety surface, flowers from light green to greenish-white. At the end of the season, the trunk becomes woody, and the plant itself acquires a powerful root system.
The vegetation period is more than 220 days, so it can only be grown in greenhouses or containers with a volume of 5 liters or more. A long growing season can be successfully overcome by early sowing of seeds (no later than January) and further growing of seedlings under strong artificial lighting for at least 16 hours a day.
The fruits of the yellow scorpion are pods of a lumpy shape, three times larger than the standard Trinidad Scorpion variety, on average 7 to 10 centimeters long and 4 to 6 centimeters in diameter, weighing 15 to 20 g.
The skin is smooth, shiny and tight, when ripe, the color changes from light green to bright yellow, the flesh is crisp, yellow, the taste is citrus, sweet, turning into intense, prolonged heat.
The Yellow Scorpion's heat level is slightly lower on the Scoville scale compared to their red counterparts, on average 800 000 - 1 200 000 SHU, but depending on the growing conditions, some pods quite often reach maximum intensity.
For fresh consumption, use in sauces and for drying.
