Habanero Maya Red Hot Pepper.
Description: High-yielding variety. Ripening period at least 200 days. Bush height 80-90 cm. Fruits are cone-shaped, up to 5 cm long. Red when ripe. Classic aroma, unique to this pepper variety. Fruity flavor.
Scoville heat rating: up to 400,000 units.
Uses: fresh, for pickling, drying, salads, and sauces.
Growing conditions: For best results, we recommend growing in a greenhouse or indoors. Loose, light, nutritious, and well-drained soil.
Growing from seeds: Before planting, prepare the seeds: soak them in a weak solution of potassium permanganate for half an hour, then wrap them in a damp cloth and leave at 25ºC until they sprout. After this, carefully plant them in moist soil to a depth of 5-10 mm, leaving at least 5 cm between them. Cover with plastic wrap or glass, and place in a warm place. As soon as shoots begin to emerge, move the seeds to a lighter location. Remember to keep the substrate slightly moist, but avoid overwatering. It's a good idea to loosen the soil occasionally between seedlings. When the seedlings have developed two pairs of true leaves, transplant them into shallow pots 8-10 cm in diameter. Water the seedlings before planting. Before planting, fertilize the hot pepper seedlings twice: two weeks after transplanting and two weeks after the first feeding.
Hot peppers are planted outdoors when the seedlings are just beginning to form their first buds. An average daily temperature of 15-17ºC is also essential. Two weeks before planting, the hot pepper seedlings are hardened off: they are "walked" outdoors daily for 15-20 minutes, gradually increasing the duration.
