Raffaello hot pepper.
Description: Italian high-yielding variety, a hybrid of Jalapeno Farmer's Market and Tasmanian Habanero, bred by the breeder Fabio Calogiuri. The height of the bush is up to 1 meter, has pubescent leaves and purple flowers.
The fruits are spindle-shaped, red. The taste is sweet.
On the Scoville scale, the degree of pungency is 30-50 thousand units.
Use: In soups (borscht, solyanka), meat dishes, stews and pilafs, as well as an ingredient for hot sauces, marinades and exotic dishes.
Growing from seeds: Before planting, the seeds must be prepared: dip them for half an hour in a weak solution of potassium permanganate, then wrap them in a damp cloth and wait at a temperature of 25 ºC until they hatch. After this, carefully plant them in moist soil to a depth of 5-10 mm, keeping a distance of at least 5 cm between them, cover with film or glass and place in a warm place. As soon as shoots begin to appear, the crops need to be moved to the light. And do not forget to keep the substrate slightly moist, while not allowing it to become over-moistened. From time to time, it is advisable to loosen the soil between the seedlings. At the stage of development of two pairs of true leaves in seedlings, the seedlings need to be pricked out into shallow pots with a diameter of 8-10 cm. Before starting the procedure, the seedlings are watered. Before planting in the ground, hot pepper seedlings are fed twice - two weeks after picking and two weeks after the first feeding.
Hot peppers are planted in open ground at the stage of formation of the first buds in seedlings. An obligatory condition is also the establishment of an average daily temperature of 15-17 ºC. Two weeks before planting, hot pepper seedlings are hardened: daily “walking” of seedlings in the open air, starting with 15-20 minutes, gradually increasing the duration.
