Duchenia (Duchenea, Indian strawberry, Indian lapchatka, Potentilla indica, Duchesnea, false strawberry)

A herbaceous perennial plant that looks like leaves and fruits of strawberries with creeping stems up to 100 cm long.

The leaves are threefold.

The flowers are single, yellow, up to 1.5 cm in diameter, resembling strawberry flowers. Flowering: from May until frost.

The fruits are red, juicy, edible, but tasteless.

Duchenia is unpretentious, grows on almost any soil. It is moisture-loving, but it also tolerates prolonged drought. It feels good both in sunny areas and in the shade.

Duchenia is an excellent groundcover. It grows very quickly, covering the soil with a carpet of dark green pubescent leaves. It is also used for the design of slopes and in places where it is necessary to quickly fill the space between trees and shrubs, including conifers.
