Abies holophylla fresh seeds, Needle fir, Manchurian fir, Evergreen conifer, Coniferous tree seeds, Organic seeds (lat. Abies holophylla).

A species of trees of the genus Fir. An evergreen tree of medium or large size, reaching a height of 55 m with a trunk diameter of up to 2 m.

The crown is dense, wide, cone-shaped, and in free-standing trees it is lowered to the ground.

The bark of young trees is grayish-brown, slightly flaky, of old trees it is thick, dark brown, sometimes of a blackish tint with deep longitudinal cracks, and of overmature trees it also has horizontal cracks; on annual shoots it is ocher or yellowish-gray.

The buds are ovoid, red-brown, 7-10 mm long, 3.5-5 mm wide. The needles are hard, always pointed, single, flat, light green on top, reaching 20-45 mm long and 2-3 mm wide; the ends on all branches are whole, not forked, hence the species name - whole-leaved.

The cones are cylindrical, blunt, from 7.5 to 12 cm long with a diameter of 3-4 cm, always directed upward, light brown. It blooms in May - June, the seeds ripen in October.

Wind resistant. Shade-tolerant, but can develop in full light. Demanding on soil fertility and air humidity. It exhibits the best growth performance on mountain forest soils that are sufficiently moist (but not waterlogged), with a thick humus layer and well-drained soils. Like other types of fir, it is shade-tolerant, but unlike them, it can safely tolerate strong light. It is superior to Korean cedar in terms of thermophilicity. In the first years it grows relatively slowly, but after 6-10 years it grows quickly. It surpasses a number of other coniferous species in growth rates. Shelter for the winter is desirable for young plants.

USDA Hardiness Zone: 5 (-29°C to -23°C).
