But a colder climate does not affect the splendor of the bush: abundant foliage is a kind of visiting card of the bushy Perilla.

The plant is very decorative and suitable for almost any style of landscape. It will fit well into group plantings of beautifully flowering species, will be an excellent choice when creating border compositions.

The bushes of the bushy Perilla are distinguished by straight vertical abundantly branching shoots. The stems are tetrahedral, pubescent. The foliage color varies from light green to purple or mottled. In the latter case, the leaves show a characteristic purple or white center and a green border. The edges of the leaf blades are serrated or wavy.

In mild climates, flowering begins in late July or early August. The flowers are small, nondescript, axillary. The green forms are whitish, the red ones are pinkish. The corolla and calyx are bell-shaped, pubescent. The flowers are collected in small brushes or panicles on the tops of flowering shoots. The fruits ripen only in the southern climate. The fruit is four easily separated nuts filled with small seeds.
