Description: An evergreen shrub, popular as an ornamental houseplant, growing up to 1.5 m tall.
The leaves are dark green and glossy.
The flowers are small and white. Blooms in July and August.
The berries are bright red or orange, spherical, 1.5–2 cm in size, and inedible. They ripen in winter and remain on the plant for several months.
Use: as an ornamental plant.
Growing conditions: Prefers a sunny location with light, loose, well-drained soil. Light: bright, tolerates direct sunlight. Watering: moderate. Temperature: not below 16°C and not above 26°C. Fertilizing: From spring to fall, the plant should be fertilized once a month.
USDA Hardiness Zone: 9 (-7°C to -1°C).
Growing from Seed: Sow the seeds in peat-based soil, sprinkle with sand, moisten, cover with plastic wrap, and place in a warm location. The first shoots will appear in about 10 days.
