An evergreen tree up to 12 m high. The bark is wrinkled, hard, dense, dark brown.
The leaves are large, from 15 to 30 cm in size, pinnate, with pointed tips.
The fruits are 2-2.5 cm in diameter, covered with a dense, hard, rough peel. The pulp is white or slightly pinkish translucent. The taste is a combination of melon sweetness, kiwi freshness and berry flavor. The bone is round or oblong. Ripening from June to August.
They are used in cooking, canned or frozen, and dried.
The soil should be light, drainage and peaty. Moisture-loving plant.
