Description: A perennial medicinal plant growing up to 120 cm tall.
The leaves are grayish-green, velvety, and elliptical.
The inflorescences are small heads (up to 10 mm in diameter) with tubular, yellowish flowers. Blooms from June to September.
The fruit is an achene. Fruiting occurs in August and September.
Uses: Culinary, folk medicine, gardening, and landscape compositions.
Growing conditions: Can be planted in any sunny location. Undemanding and winter-hardy. It is undemanding regarding soil, but prefers well-drained, cultivated soil.
Growing from seed: Stratification is not required. Seeds are sown outdoors in late April or early May, although many gardeners prefer to do so in mid-autumn. Sow in a 20x40 cm pattern, planting the seeds 2-3 cm deep.
