Chestnut-leafed oak belongs to the beech family. An amazing tree up to 45 meters high, with a slender trunk and a huge tent-like crown. The oak got its name because of its leaves, which are very similar to chestnut leaves. Oak blooms with anther catkins on a very short leg. Seeds are obtained elongated spherical shape. Their formation occurs several years after the growing season. The tree bears a lot of fruit, but provided that the tree is old enough. Its natural habitat is Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Northern Iran. Oak trees form magnificent forests in the lowlands or on top. The tree grows quite quickly, but in comparison with other breeds, it only lives up to 350 years. Oak is quite hardy and easily tolerates drought, only in such periods it sheds its leaves.

Oak has a very valuable wood, and this affects its forests. This species is listed in the red book of Azerbaijan. They created protected areas with incredibly beautiful forests. Its fruits are also used in folk medicine.
