Agrotechnics for Growing Tobacco from Seeds

Step-by-step instructions for growing tobacco seedlings, planting in the ground, and leaf fermentation.
Important!
Seeds that have passed stratification, we send wet in perlite, and if you received dry seeds (without perlite), which means that they have not passed stratification and you, if it is required for seeds, need to stratify!
Sowing seeds from mid-February to April (included).
When sowing the seeds, it is advisable to use a normal disposable container. Fill the container with earth, preferably store-bought earth, and pour it into the container with boiling water an hour before the seeds are planted. During this time, the soil is aerated. Then it is best to pour the seeds a little, as with a large number, when they germinate, they will hammer themselves, they have little area for the root system, and the seedlings grow slower.

Poured the seeds, spray them with a prepared solution of Topaz (2-3 divisions in 5 cc syringe (not cubes) of 1.5 litres of water), it really helps with the development of seedlings used to improve germination, prizhivaniya, disease resistance.

Then cover tightly with a lid, you can just put it in a normal bag. And leave it like this for 2-3 days until the seeds start to sprout their roots. Then start opening the lid little by little so that the tobacco slowly gets used to the normal environment. If you open it immediately, the seedlings will simply fall over and disappear, open the lid more and more each time for 3 days. Then simply remove the lid. Tobacco seeds grow better at a temperature of 22 degrees or higher. When the lids are fully opened, the tobacco will need more light, so you can place it on windows with sufficient light or put it under a daylight lamp.

It is also not advisable to flood the tobacco too much. It does not like this. The seedlings will begin to rot at the root and will then simply fall over. Water moderately, so that the soil dries out, but only a little.

In the phase of the cross (the appearance of 2 true leaves) tobacco can be planted in individual cups or other containers. Plant in the ground when the danger of frost has passed. The distance between the bushes should be at least 30 cm. Tobacco needs plenty of potassium. Remove the leaves gradually, starting with the lower tier. Leaf maturity occurs when the leaf turns yellow-green and the veins turn white. The leaf becomes sticky and sagging. A distinctive cracking sound is heard when the leaf breaks. The best time for harvesting is at the end of the day. The leaves contain a minimum of water. To improve the quality, tobacco is topped by breaking off the flower stalks. After topping, the stalks begin to grow vigorously and must also be removed in good time.
