A perennial herbaceous plant, growing entirely in water or partially immersed in it, 20-110 cm high.

The leaves are collected in a basal rosette. The emergent leaves are arrow-shaped, 6.5-15 cm long and 4-12 cm wide. The floating leaves are long-petiolate, rounded-arrow-shaped. The underwater leaves are ribbon-shaped, yellow-green, translucent.

The flowers are collected in clusters of 3, up to 2 cm in diameter, white with a pink spot at the base. They bloom from mid-June to the end of August. Pollinated by insects.

The fruit is an achene with a spout, floating on the surface of the water.

Used to decorate the coastal zone of a reservoir. Prefers open sunny places.
