Mexican Taxodium, Taxodium mucronatum, Mexican Cypress

An evergreen coniferous tree with a lush, wide-spreading weeping crown covered with a mass of soft green needles. Reaches a height of up to 50 m. Under natural conditions it grows in Mexico, reaching Guatemala in the south, and Texas in the north.

Very impressive in the form of tapeworms, as well as in small groups among vast lawns, allowing the full beauty of these trees to be revealed. In indoor culture it is grown in bonsai style.

Does not have strict soil requirements. Grows best in moderately acidic or neutral soil with a pH of 5.5-7. If grown in soil that is too alkaline, the lack of green will show up in the leaves. Taxodium mexicanis can survive in slightly dry soil or waterlogged marshes, while moist, well-drained sandy loam soils do best.

USDA Hardiness Zone: 9 (-7°C to -1°C).
